As the futures industry approaches another record year, FO Week’s Jim Kharouf spoke with John Damgard, president of Futures Industry Association (FIA) about the controversy surrounding this year’s FIA Expo, Washington and regulatory issues and the future of the industry

Among the freshest news issues heading into FIA Expo is FIA itself and the rift with CME Group. CME, which helped launch FIA Expo on its own trading floor 23 years ago, will not have an exhibition space this year. Why?

It is true that it is not exhibiting this year, but they are providing very strong support to the conference in lots of other ways. There are CME people on any number of panels at the conference, and of course CME is sponsoring the Wednesday night reception, which is one of the real highlights of the week.
