Options Industry Council reported that total options trading volume in November reached 310.80m contracts, a 68.1% increase over November 2006’s 184,926,170 contracts. This is the first time that more than 300m option contracts have traded in a month.
ICE Futures Europe has reported that total volume traded rose 30% during November. Trading totalled 12.92m contracts, up 30% from 9.94m contracts that were traded in November 2006. Average daily volume for the month was the second highest on record, rising 30% from 451,676 contracts in November 2006 to 587,461 contracts in November 2007.
ICE Futures US also recorded strong growth in its trading volumes throughout November. Total futures and options volume at ICE Futures U.S. increased 13% to 4.11m contracts in November 2007, compared to 3.64m contracts in November 2006.
