Equity stake an unlikely consequence of CME, BM talks

Ongoing talks between CME Group and Bursa Malaysia are unlikely to result in the US exchange taking a stake in its Asian equivalent, according to statements made by Bursa Malaysia. Early reports had hinted at a fully-fledged partnership deal, but the Malaysian exchange has moved to quash the speculation. This has led some sources to compare the current discussions with the overreaction to similar collaborative talks between NYSE Euronext and Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) earlier this year.
