Against the grain


CMC has broadened its focus to address industry and political issues that affect grains, energies, metals and softs. Its roster includes five exchanges and 25 member FCMs and commercial users. FO Week’s Jim Kharouf spoke with Walter about CMC and how it is beginning to attract new member firms, some of which are leaving Futures Industry Association for CMC.

Let’s start with a question about yourself. You joined CMC in January. Why take the position?I have a background of more than 30 years in the trading area mostly in grains and some in energies and softs. I’ve run and managed a lot of commodity-based businesses all over the world.
