RTS’ derivatives segment, FORTS, recorded a new trading volume high on March 18 in its gold derivative contract. Trading totalled 45,397 contracts surpassing the 38,653 contracts that were traded on December 18, 2006.


Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing recorded a new exchange-wide daily volume record on March 26, in a period of sustained interest for the exchange. Trading volume totalled 1.18m contracts, exceeding the previous record volume of 773,545 contracts which was recorded on August 17, 2007. The new record surpasses the average daily volume recorded during 2007 of 163,664 contracts traded per day. The new record was almost equalled on the next trading day, March 27 when volume totalled 1.16m contracts.

Trading on Bursa Malaysia’s derivatives platform was suspended on March 24 after the exchange was unable to disseminate market data to trading participants. Trading was suspended at 8:45am local time but...
