CFTC-yaUnsurprisingly, the last week or so has been dominated by the hoo-ha over the possible merger of CFTC and SEC (although, let’s face it, that would be about as much of a ‘merger’ as that between CME and CBoT, say, or Nazi Germany and France). And, equally unsurprisingly, the weight of the futures business – and CFTC itself – has set itself against the merger. Which seems fair enough: there can’t be many regulators in financial markets which receive such a consistent level of praise from the participants they oversee. Frankly, there can’t be many regulators...
