Choice of clearing models should be made available

Regulators should not determine which clearing model is used by the industry because different markets each have different clearing needs and should be assessed on an individual basis, panellists at FOW’s 18th annual London Derivatives Week agreed.

As the debate over vertical versus horizontal silo structures rages on, speakers representing CME Group, LCH Clearnet and Options Clearing Council (OCC) agreed that different markets should be allowed different systems.
