Chicago Climate Exchange has reached a record daily volume with 36,626 Carbon Financial Instrument contracts trading on May 13. This total made it the highest trading day in the exchange’s history beating its previous record high of 24,390 contracts on February 11 this year.

Tokyo Commodity Exchange’s trading volume fell 12% during April compared to levels recorded a year prior. Trading totalled 3.22m contracts for the month but these levels failed to match levels recorded in April 2007, when trading totalled 3.64m contracts. The trading volume is also down on levels recorded a month earlier. March volume totalled 3.53m contracts.Tokyo Financial Exchange (TFX) recorded an 18.5% decrease in trading volume for April from a year earlier in its three-month Euroyen futures.
