Montreal Exchange Climate Exchange (MCEX) launched on May 30 as the first carbon market in Canada, but will face an uphill battle to make it viable.
The new exchange, a joint venture between Montreal Exchange (MX) and Chicago Climate Exchange, began with a carbon dioxide futures contract. The contract is traded on MX’s Sola trading platform and is available to all MX clearing members as well as non-clearing members.
