New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex) saw an average daily volume of 1.9m, a 38% increase over figures a year earlier. Electronic volume at Nymex on CME Globex averaged 938,020 contracts per day on the exchange, 57% up on figures in May 2007. Comex electronic volume averaged 179,554 contracts per day for May representing a 69% increase over 106,116 contracts per day a year earlier.


ICE Futures US reported a new daily volume record in its mini Russell Index futures on June 12. Trading totalled 14,807 contracts, surpassing the previous record set one day prior when trading totalled 13,505 contracts. The new trading high is the third trading record during the week.
