ASX emissions futures launch set for second

The Australian Securities Exchange this week said it proposes to launch emissions futures in the second half of 2009. The exchange also agreed with local brokers in saying that the winner of any competition for the carbon futures market in Australia would be speedily resolved.
ASX’s general manager, for emerging markets, Anthony Collins, told FO Week the exchange plans to list natural gas, energy credit and coal futures in advance of a third quarter 2009 listing of emissions contracts.
