Launch of Polish commodity futures threatened by presidential delay


The Warsaw Commodity Exchange’s plans to launch futures on several agricultural commodities may be facing a delay, as the amendment to a major regulatory bill might not be introduced on time.

The exchange, known as WGT, intends to introduce contracts on wheat, meat, pig livestock, pork bellies and possibly rapeseed in the first stage. Wheat futures especially are expected to be very liquid and the market makers were already in place, said Artur Zur, a board member at WGT in Warsaw.
