WSE privatisation put on hold as president says no to bill


The privatisation of the Warsaw Stock Exchange is unlikely to go-ahead in 2008 after Poland’s president vetoed an amendment to a regulatory bill yesterday.

President Lech Kaczynski has directed the amendment from the Act on Trading Financial Instruments to the Constitutional Tribunal.

As a result, that the date of the exchange’s public offering will now depend on when the Constitutional Tribunal considers the amendment.
