FX, too, has a record September – but spreads are wide


Foreign exchange derivative trading at CME Group reached a record high in September, showing that the unprecedented volatility in global financial markets has swelled FX trading as well as that in equities and bonds.

CME Group Foreign Exchange hosted the trading of 17,530,941 futures and options in September, 45% more than the 12,061,571 traded in September 2007.

The total notional value reached $2.314tr, a 54% increase on September 2007’s notional value of $1,502tr....
