CBOE claims success with combined equity and options trading


The Chicago Board Options Exchange and the CBOE Stock Exchange have reported a successful implementation as trading volumes soared after the exchanges enabled trading in equities and options to be executed through a single electronic platform.

The sister exchanges launched the functionality – which they claim is unique – in June this year but only announced it in a statement on Tuesday.

As well as being able to use the same system for both equity and option trades at different times, members can execute paired equity and option trades simultaneously. At the moment this can only be done if the number of shares and options is equal,...
