Nasdaq Dubai’s lone member kicks off derivative trading


Nasdaq Dubai (formerly the Dubai International Financial Exchange) launched derivatives trading at 10am today (Wednesday November 19). The exchange now lists 22 equity futures, including single stocks and the FTSE DIFX UAE 20.

By just before 4pm today in Dubai, 10 contracts had been traded. Five were index futures that expire in March 2009, the other five individual futures on construction group Arabtec expiring in February 2009. Each of the contracts has an underlying asset of 100 shares.
