CCFE launches futures on carbon ahead of federal mandate

Chicago Climate Futures Exchange launched futures on carbon financial instruments on November 19. CFIs are permits to emit carbon dioxide which have begun being traded in advance of any government controls on emissions. CCFE's new contract offers the market exposure to possible future US carbon allowance prices and the ability to hedge whether and when a US federal greenhouse gas emission reduction mandate is established....
