Platinum hit by global economic downturn but may fall further, warn analysts


The price of platinum futures listed at the New York Mercantile Exchange, part of the CME Group, has been declining steadily since it hit a peak of $2,221 an ounce on May 21. It hit a one year low of $790.10 on November 20 but it has since risen slightly and closed at $869.70 on November 26.

Suki Cooper, a precious metals analyst at Barclays Capital, said that the focus of concerns relating to platinum has “changed 180 degrees”...
