First carbon futures settled on BlueNext exchange in Paris


BlueNext, a new environmental exchange in Paris, and its clearing house LCH.Clearnet, have completed the first physical delivery process to settle its carbon futures contracts.

The exchange said the December 2008 futures on European Union Allowances (EUAs) and Certified Emissions Reductions (CERs) were processed on Tuesday December 2.

The EUAs and CERs to settle the BlueNext futures contracts were moved between the counterparties within the French greenhouse gas registry.
