LME reports new annual trading record despite global downturn


The London Metal Exchange has reported a new annual trading record as trading throughout 2008 totalled 113m contracts - exceeding the 93m contracts traded the year prior.

The 7% increase in year-on-year trading was announced as the exchange said trading in December rose 28% as trading totalled 8.8m contracts.
