CME unlikely to hit July deadline for CDS clearing in Europe


Kim Taylor, managing director and president of CME Group’s clearing house, has said it is unlikely to introduce its European clearing house before July 31, the deadline imposed by Charlie McCreevy, EU commissioner for internal markets and services, for many credit default swaps to be centrally cleared.

CME plans to begin by clearing CDS indices, then single name CDS, and later to offer other products.
