UK’s Conservatives support CCP, say CDS must be cleared in London


George Osborne, the UK shadow chancellor of the exchequer, has launched a white paper that supports “greater central counterparty clearing” and “a more appropriate balance between exchange-traded and over-the-counter securities”.

The Conservative Party’s finance spokesman launched a white paper on financial regulation today (July 20), entitled From crisis to confidence: Plan for sound banking.

Among other things it supports “more central clearing to reduce counterparty risk”.
