HKEX reports six month profit slide despite second quarter recovery


Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing’s net profit fell 26% during the first six months of its 2009 financial year despite the bourse reporting a second quarter recovery.

HKEX reported the decline in profits despite a flat period of derivatives trading, falling 2% year-on-year during the six month period, despite the Asian bourse recording a 17% increase in trading in its suite of derivative contracts between March and June during the same period of 2008.
