CFTC moots tighter controls on 24 ICE energy contracts


The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has invited public comment on whether 24 energy contracts offered by Intercontinental Exchange perform significant price discovery functions. Should the US regulator conclude that they do, the contracts could be subjected to position limits.

The CFTC has asked market participants to comment on the significance of the 24 natural gas, power and electricity contracts in forming prices for the underlying commodities.
