Local retail and foreign funds bolster HKEX derivatives as prop traders fade


Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing has said the level of trading by market makers and proprietary traders in the year to June 2009 fell 8%  from the previous year. The Asian exchange made the admission in its annual survey of its market, which revealed the breakdown of yearly trading volumes and highlighted the increased significance of local retail traders.
