Equinix wins Switch and Data
Californian data centre provider Equinix is to merge with its Tampa, Florida-based rival Switch and Data, after shareholders in the latter company overwhelmingly approved the deal.
Some 99% of the 85% of Switch and Data’s shareholders who voted favoured the merger with the Sundance Acquisition Corp, a wholly owned subsidiary of Equinix.
Completion is expected in the second quarter of 2010 but is subject to the expiration or termination of the waiting period imposed by the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvement Act of 1976 and the satisfaction or waiver of other closing conditions specified in the merger agreement.
