The Australian Securities Exchange delisted its renewable energy certificate futures and options on April 6. It plans to replace its original renewable energy certificate contracts, which have an underlying contract size of 100 certificates, with similar contracts with a size of 1000 certificates.
The Sydney-based exchange said it decided to tweak its environmental derivatives offering following the Australian government’s decision to amend its Renewable Energy Target (RET) scheme.
Each renewal energy certificate represents 1MWh of electricity generated from renewable energy and can be traded once registered.
