WSE achieves record volumes; BM&F Bovespa’s carbon auction unsuccessful


Record volumes at WSE
The Warsaw Stock Exchange enjoyed its strongest ever month of derivatives trading in March 2010, with 1.7m contracts changing hands. This topped the bourse’s previous record of 1.6m contracts in October 2008.
WIG 20 stock index futures were by far the most active product, with 1.5m contracts traded, also a record. Equity option trading also broke records.
Open interest for the month stood at 179,000. Total trading for Q1 2010 was 4.1m, a third up on the same period last year.
