Chinese stock index future launches with a bang


A new era began in the Chinese derivatives market today, as the trading of listed financial derivatives recommenced after a gap of more than a decade.

The long-awaited CSI 300 equity index futures began trading at the China Financial Futures Exchange in Shanghai, with more than 58,000 contracts exchanged on the first day. The futures track the leading index of 300 ‘A’ shares listed in Shanghai and Shenzhen, weighted by freefloat.
