Gary Gensler, chairman of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, has pleaded with US legislators not to pass up an opportunity for tighter regulation of the US derivatives market.
In a speech to the Association for Financial Professionals Global Corporate Treasurers Forum ahead of a Senate vote on the financial reform bill, which may take place as early as tomorrow, Gensler pleaded with legislators to hold firm on the bills derivatives provisions.
