Gensler bangs the drum as bill deadline approaches


Gary Gensler, chairman of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, has pleaded with US legislators not to pass up an opportunity for tighter regulation of the US derivatives market.

In a speech to the Association for Financial Professionals’ Global Corporate Treasurers’ Forum ahead of a Senate vote on the financial reform bill, which may take place as early as tomorrow, Gensler pleaded with legislators to hold firm on the bill’s derivatives provisions.
