Nasdaq OMX completes Nord Pool acquisition

Nasdaq OMX has received regulatory approval to complete its acquisition of Nord Pool ASA, which operates the Nordic power derivatives market and a European carbon market. Nord Pool holds a Norwegian exchange licence.

The acquisition follows that of two other parts of Nord Pool’s business. Nasdaq OMX took over Nord Pool Clearing and Nord Pool Consulting in October 2008. But the global exchange group does not own Nord Pool Spot AS, the Nordic spot electricity market.
