EU committee calls for strict derivatives regulation


The EU’s Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee approved a resolution on Wednesday which said that proposed EU regulations on derivatives should be clearer and tougher.

The resolution comes several weeks before the European Commission publishes its legislative proposals for regulating derivatives trading.

Among other things, the committee resolution calls for strict rules to prevent the build-up of risk by inexperienced traders...
