Tabb predicts US options growth
Tabb Group has said in an annual research survey that the US options industry is continuing to thrive and that total industry commissions are forecast to rise 15% this year.
Andy Nybo, the study’s author, said in a statement: “Global options brokers have seen the pot of gold and are building option desks by recruiting seasoned staff and providing deep capital support.” He said interest was coming from a broad range of firms, including interdealer brokers and hedge funds.
Tabb thinks the combination of greater volatility and growing assets under management will help push up industry trading volumes, which it thinks will rise by 5.6% in 2010.
