Record trading on Forts as bourse launches power futures


Forts, the future and options trading division of the Russian Trading System Stock Exchange, has announced record trading figures for May. Some 64.4m contracts changed hands, beating October 2009’s total of 54.7m and constituting a rise of nearly 58% year on year.

RTS Standard Index Futures, a widely used hedging tool during a volatile month of trading, led the way, with 24.4m contracts traded. Currency futures were also busy, with 7.7m Dollar/Rouble Futures and 2.3m Euro/Dollar contracts changing hands.
