CBOE weekly options start trading on Thursdays
The Chicago Board Options Exchange has announced that all new weekly options will begin to trade on Thursdays and expire the following Friday.
Before, they were listed on Fridays, so their duration will now be one day longer. The aim of this is to allow users to roll trades more easily from one weekly expiry to another.
Other than the expiry date, weekly options normally have the same contract specifications as standard options.
The average daily volume of weekly index options in May 2010 was 55,400.
