News in brief: NYSE takes charge of MSCI; Birley to step down


NYSE Liffe US to become sole US exchange for MSCI-based futures

NYSE Liffe US will coordinate with its customer base to complete the transition of trading and open interest of all existing US futures on the MSCI family of stock indices. The products will move to its platform no later than June 17, 2011.

This comes after MSCI’s announcement that it did not intend to renew the current licensing agreements with the Chicago Mercantile Exchange to create futures on the MSCI EAFE and MSCI Emerging Markets indices.

MSCI opted to consolidate US-based licenses for those two indices so they could serve as the core of a broad range of MSCI-based futures...
