Senate passes Dodd-Frank reform


The US Senate this morning voted through the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act by 60 votes to 38, allowing it to defeat a Republican filibuster.

A final vote is scheduled for 2pm Washington time (7pm in London), but passage is regarded as guaranteed. Republicans could delay that vote until Friday evening but are not expected to do so.
