SEC proposes exemption for end users of security-based swaps


The Securities and Exchange Commission released on Wednesday December 15 a proposal to allow end users of security-based swaps an exemption from clearing requirements under the Dodd-Frank Act.

The SEC unveiled its swap clearing policy at a public meeting, committing to follow the lead of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, which proposed offering an exemption to end users of swaps on December 9.
