Slow start to trading in 2012


The year got off to a slow start according to early volume figures.

Figures from the Options Clearing Organisation (OCC) revealed total cleared options volume for January reached 337m contracts, a 12% percent decline from the January 2011 volume of 381m contracts.

Despite this drop, January 2012 is now the third highest January volume on record.
