So, it is all over and there won't even be any shouting. The combination of Deutsche Börse and NYSE Euronext is not to be and you can either sigh with sadness or relief depending on which side of the line you stood.
Strangely, in the end it didn't come down to vertical silos, a political numbers game or championing globalisation but an old-fashioned monopoly ruling.
